How it all started

I have always been interested in Arts and Design. When I was around 14 years old, I learned how to use Photoshop on my own and spent most of my days trying to create photo manipulations and illustrations. When it was time to choose a career, Design was the option that got me the most excited because I felt like life was already taking me in that direction.

My education background

I had most of my education in Brazil, where I was born. At UTFPR, one of the most important universities in the country, I studied Graphic Design from 2012 to 2016. Because of my high performance as a student, I was awarded a scholarship to Emily Carr University in Vancouver, where I studied Communication Design for the entire year of 2014. After going back to Brazil to finish my studies, I applied to BCIT and in 2016 I returned to Canada to take the Media Techniques and Marketing Communications program, which I graduated in 2018.

About my work

For most of my career, I’ve been dedicated to helping companies make a positive impact on society. At Change Heroes, I helped people raise funds for charities and causes they cared about. At Fitplan, I empowered users to live a healthier and more active lifestyle, and at Social Nature, I motivated the community to make the switch to healthier and more sustainable products.

I would say that what gets me out of bed every day is knowing that whatever I’ll be doing for the next 8 hours will have a tangible impact on either the business or its community.

What I do in my free time

One of my biggest passions is Photography. During the weekends or any sunny day, you might see me with a camera in my hand, taking pictures for my Instagram Shades of the World. Photography also plays an important role in my career; it helped me understand important aspects of Design, like composition, lighting, and the use of colors. Renan without Photography is like poutine without the cheese. 📷❤️
